In the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, you can walk along the pathways which lead to the forest or the board walks bounding the Mac Ritchie Reservoir which are about 3 to 11 km long. These walkways or boardwalks offer you an opportunity for exploring various parts of the reserve with the signboards in the reserve providing guidance on the directions. You can enjoy watching various plants, animal and insects in the reserve which has got Dipterocarpaceae in abundance, wood from which is used for commercial functions. The Central Catchment Nature Reserve is home to more than 500 species of animal with diverse forms of butterflies. Other inhabitants at Central Catchment Nature Reserve include Sun Skink, long-tailed Macaque, the oriental whip Snake and many wild birds such as Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Crimson Sunbird and kingfishers.
